a short history of salt-aire

  The Salt-Aire Condominium Association, known as Decatur Camp Grounds when it was first opened in the 1930's (pictured here), was incorporated under the State of Maine Condominium Laws in 1985. The 3.05 acre Salt-Aire property consists of 22 wood structure cottages, 44 trailer units and one house unit. The Association address is 333 Long Sands Road but actually includes some of Tabernacle Road and Robert Street. The grounds are located near the intersection of Long Sands Road and Long Beach Avenue, 200 yards from the ocean. The community is governed by an Executive Board elected annually which is responsible for overseeing both financial matters and property management. From closing in mid-October until opening in early May, all utilities are disconnected making the complex uninhabitable for that six-month period of time.
